SARA – Drainage and Hydrology Modeling
FEMA – Floodplain studies, FEMA floodplain map revisions (CLOMR’s, and LOMR’s)
TxDOT – Highway Design
Several of these residential and commercial projects required the design of off-site infrastructure to support their respective development. We have designed numerous utility, drainage, and roadway improvements to support all kinds of residential and commercial developments. The following shall list our technical areas of proficiency:
Aboveground storage of hydrocarbon tanks
Mixed Use Development
Cost estimates
Various drainage and detention studies and analysis
Edward’s Aquifer watershed management programs
Hydraulic energy dissipaters/stilling basin structures
Erosion control systems
Feasibility Studies
FEMA drainage submittals (CLOMAR/LOMAR)
Gabion design systems
Hydrology and Hydraulic modeling / studies / analysis
Stormwater runoff treatment systems
Sanitary sewer and stormsewer lift station design

Mission Statement
KDE’s mission is to provide exceptional services for our clients, KDE will always guarantee contractual stated costs regardless of “overruns”. We do it “right the first time” or we absorb the difference.
KDE’s core values of Honesty, Integrity, and Professional Excellence are the standards by which we approach every Client Relationship, Employee Engagement, Project we handle, and Stewardship of our place in the South/Central Texas Community.
COMPUTER MODELING CAPABILITIES & PROGRAMS
HYDROLOGY
TR-55
Models general hydrology and runoff from site development. In addition to SCS and TR-55 methods, the program can compute hydrographs using the Rational Method and Modified Method; in addition to these capabilities, it also computes Tc, weights, Cns and Rational “C” coefficients and computes peak discharges.
FREQN
Computes peak flow rates from gauging stations located along rivers, creeks or streams. Provides peak flow rates for the two-year through two hundred-year flow events.
Latest generation of hydrologic modeling software from the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers. Supersedes HEC-1
HYDRAULICS
HEC-RAS
Computes water surface profiles for steady, gradually varied flow in natural or man made channels, creeks, streams and rivers. It handles subcritical and supercritical flows, and can model obstructions such as bridges, culverts, weirs and floodplain structures. HEC-RAS has applications in managing floodplains, evaluating floodway encroachments, identifying flood hazard zones and designing channel improvements. It is used extensively for developing FEMA floodplain studies.
THYSYS,
Used for analyzing and designing inlets, storm sewer systems, culverts STORMCAD, and open channels. These models can develop design flows using the
WINSTORM, Rational Method or Gauged Data.
FLOW MASTER,
Hydra flow
Used for detention pond design, this program estimates detention storage
Hydragraphs requirements, computes volume rating tables for any pond configuration, routes hydrographs for different return frequencies through alternative ponds and plots the resulting inflow and outflow hydrographs. All equations are included in an easy to read report so that reviewing agencies can quickly identify the methodology used.
WATER AND WASTEWATER
Water distribution and pressure network analysis program. This program is capable of analyzing small and large-scale water supply and distribution systems. Model capabilities include tanks and pumping systems, reservoirs and distribution systems.
DESIGN AND DRAFTING
An interactive surveying and civil engineering automation system developed by AutoDesk. AutoCAD provides tools to process field survey
data and develop engineering design for a wide variety of applications. AutoCAD operates in the Microsoft Windows XP environment, giving visual access to survey and design geometry. This program provides full support for surveying operations working with many data collection systems, such as TDS. This program aids the engineer, technician or draftsman in design and drafting of all aspects. It allows for complete accuracy in all designs and drawings and provides for fast revisions. This program can plot as many original drawings as required, with complete legibility and accuracy.
COMPOSITE MODEL
Comprehensive and economical solution to all civil engineering analyses, design and drafting needs. This is an integrated package of software working in a Windows XP environment for an array of civil/site design and survey applications. The core and associated modules work inside of AutoCAD, making it user friendly with simultaneous computational analysis and final plan production. KDE has the combined modules for use in-house as follows:
• Advance Designer
• Coordinate Geometry (COGO)
• Digital Terrain Modeling (DTM)
• Earthworks
• Hydrology Tools
• Landscape
• Data Collection
CARLSON
The software runs on Windows 98 or Windows 2000 Professional platform. It is used for; GPS baseline processing, survey network adjustment, processing of GPS (Real Time Survey data "RTS") and conventional topographic survey data, quality assurance and quality control of data, road design data import and export, extensive import and export formats for transfer of data from a variety of sources, digital terrain modeling and contouring, datum transformation and projections, GIS data capture and data export, project reporting, and survey project management.
